The Representative Council (RC), a structure of the National Youth Council (NYC) of Namibia, met towards the end of last year to deliberate on programmes and activities of the youth council for the year 2019 and to chart the way forward for the restructuring of the Constituency and Regional Youth Forums. 58 participants attended the meeting which took place at Aresbusch Travel Lodge in Windhoek from 14 – 15 December last year. 35 of the 49 affiliated organisations sent delegates to the meeting. Other participants were the 14 Chairpersons of the Regional Youth Forums, 8 Board members, and the RC Chairperson. The seat of the Executive Chairperson (EC), last held by Mr Mandela Kapere, was vacant. Mr Kapere vacated the seat due to his election to the next parliament. RC confirmed Elsarien Katiti, Vice Chairperson of the board to act in the position until a new EC is elected. RC is the second highest decision making body when the General Assembly (GA) is not in session.
